The method for inspecting a variable display which is provided with a display main body, a storage means and a control means for carrying out the program for inspecting the program and data stored in the storage means of the variable display carries out: a collation value reception waiting step S15 of transmitting an inspection starting command to the control part to wait the reception of a collation value; a collation value reception step S16 of transmitting the collation value to receive the collation value for the inspection; a collation value holding step S17 of temporarily holding the received collation value; an inspection value generation step S21 of generating the inspection value of data in the storage means in the state of holding the collation value; a propriety decision step S22 of comparing the collation value with the inspection value to judge propriety of data in the storage means; and propriety judgment result output steps S23 and S32 of outputting a propriety judgment result.
