To provide a method of making a polarized light separating element to suppress protruding of an organic birefringent film from a transparent substrate and mispositioning thereof in bonding the organic birefringent film to the transparent substrate.
In the bonding process comprising applying a UV curing adhesive 3 onto the transparent substrate 1, placing the organic birefringent film 5 varying in a refractive index onto a vibration surface varying in incident light on the UV curing adhesive, rotating the transparent substrate 1 on which the film 5 is placed by first rotation, stopping the rotation of the transparent substrate 1 rotated by the first rotation, gliding the organic birefringent film on the transparent substrate to correct its position, rotating the transparent substrate 1 by second rotation, stopping the rotation of the transparent substrate 1 by the second rotation, and curing the UV curing adhesive 3 by irradiating the adhesive with UV rays; the first rotation and correction are repeated until the film 5 does not approximately move on the transparent substrate 1 by the first rotation and thereafter, the second rotation and curing are performed.
