To provide a method for manufacturing an oxide superconductor by which an oxide superconducting layer having an excellent critical current density even in a high magnetic field region can be manufactured without lowering a critical temperature even in a thin film shape obtained by a liquid phase epitaxial process.
A base material is dipped into a fusion solution essentially consisting of the constituting elements of a rare earth based oxide superconductor, and is taken up. The crystals of a rare earth based oxide superconductor are grown onto the base material taken up from the fusion solution, and an oxide superconducting layer is formed on the base material. In the manufacturing method for the oxide superconductor, the fusion solution containing Ca in addition to the constituting elements of the rare earth based oxide superconductor is used.
