Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing β-phase iron disilicide sintered compact powder by which the production of an ε-phase by the mechanical alloying method is suppressed and the time required for the mechanical alloying is reduced.

In the method for manufacturing the β-phase iron disilicide by mechanically alloying powder containing iron and silicon, the β-phase iron disilicide powder is manufactured by (1) preparing a raw material so that the atomic ratio of iron to silicon contained in the raw material powder is 1:>2.2 and 1:≤3.0 and (2) mechanically alloying using a disk mill to produce the α-phase and ε-phase iron disilicide until iron of the raw material is consumed to leave ≤20%.
