Abstract:
To provide qualitative and quantitative methods measuring multimers of fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor by gel electrophoresis.
A sample containing von Willebrand factor (vWF) or fibrinogen is fractioned by submarine electrophoresis using agarose gel which is contiguous, homogeneous, and does not contain lumps. After Western blot analysis by a specific-antibody-enzyme complex on a Blotting membrane, a multimer band is visualized immunochemically or by using a proper dye on the gel, preferably blue staining.
