Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe method for producing a 5-phthalancarbonitrile compound, which scarcely gives loads to environments (does not use reagents giving large loads to the environments, such as heavy metals, metal cyanides, and thionyl chloride).
SOLUTION: A new compound represented by formula [I] (X is chlorine atom, bromine atom, or iodine atom) is used as a key intermediate to produce the 5-phthalancarbonitrile compound, from a quite new viewpoint.
