Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing dimethyl carbonate and ethylene glycol by an ester interchange reaction of ethylene carbonate and methanol improved so that the separation of byproducts can be carried out by a simplified step compared to a conventional method.
SOLUTION: The vapor discharged from a gas-liquid separation step is partially condensed, and the dimethyl ether by-produced at the ester interchange reaction is separated as an exhaust gas.
