Abstract:

To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing a β-fluoroalcohol.

This method for producing the β-fluoroalcohol is characterized by effecting an alkyl-substituted imidazolium salt containing fluoride ion and expressed by formula (1) [wherein, R1, R3 are the same or different and are each a substituted or non-substituted alkyl; R2, R4 and R5 are the same or different and are each H, or a substituted or non-substituted alkyl; Y- is a monovalent anion except for fluoride ion; and also 0<x≤1] and water on an epoxy compound.
