To provide a core material which is suitable for forming a fiber- reinforced carbon-containing intermediate body by pressing so that it has a shape close to the final shape, and can further be removed gently, simply and preferably without leaving a residue and without damaging the cured intermediate body.
The hollow body comprising a fiber-reinforced ceramic material is produced by the following steps: the core is produced in a first step; a green body is produced in a second step by introducing, into a mold, the core and a press molding compound comprising carbon fibers and/or carbon threads and pitch and/or resins; the green body is cured in a third step; the cured green body is carbonized in a fourth step to obtain a C/C body (carbon fiber reinforced carbon); and the C/C body is infiltrated with a liquid metal. The hollow body is employed in brake disks, clutch disks and friction disks.
