To provide a lactic acid production technique by fermentation method so as to effect high production efficiency.
This method for producing lactic acid comprises the steps of culturing lactic acid-producing bacteria in the presence of an externally added pyruvic acid to produce the lactic acid in the medium and then collecting the thus produced lactic acid.
