To produce a liquid fertilizer from organic wastes under odorless conditions at a low cost by utilizing simple equipment, and to provide a method for producing a liquid fertilizer which has properties suited for plant growth and for the improvement of the water permeability of soil.
Separated water obtained by subjecting organic wastes such as barn sewage to low aeration treatment and subsequently subjecting the product to sludge separation treatment is utilized as a liquid fertilizer. The separated water may be subjected again to low aeration treatment. The nitrate ion concentration of the liquid fertilizer is adjusted to 100 mg/L or more by such low aeration treatments. It is desirable that the low aeration treatment is performed at a dissolved oxygen (DO) value of 0-3 mg/L.
