Abstract:

To provide a method for producing an oxidation type polypeptide which contains oxidized sulfur-containing amino acid residues.

This method for producing the oxidation type polypeptide, comprising oxidizing a polypeptide containing a sulfur-containing amino acid selected from the group consisting of cysteine and methionine to produce the oxidation type polypeptide containing at least one oxidation type sulfur-containing amino acid selected from the group consisting of cysteine sulfonic acid or its salts, and methionine sulfoxide, is characterized by treating the culture product of a transformed host transformed with a gene encoding the polypeptide with an oxidizing agent and then recovering the produced oxidation type polypeptide.
