PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing α-phenylethyl alcohol by hydrogenating acetophenone in the presence of a copper-based catalyst, capable of maintaining reduction in catalytic activity at an extremely low level.
SOLUTION: In this method for producing α-phenylethyl alcohol by hydrogenating acetophenone in the presence of the copper-based catalyst, the method for producing α-phenylethyl alcohol comprises using a catalyst reduced in the presence of a liquid phase.
