Abstract:
To provide a simple method for purifying an anhydrous sugar alcohol, whereby an anhydrous sugar alcohol product of high-purity is produced at a high yield.
The method for purifying the anhydrous sugar alcohol includes the following processes, i.e. a process of dissolving a crude anhydrous sugar alcohol into an aliphatic alcohol having solubility with respect to the anhydrous sugar alcohol of from 5 to 45 (g/100 g); a process of cooling the resulting crude anhydrous sugar alcohol solution down to 0 to 25°C to precipitate a crystal of the anhydrous sugar alcohol; and a process of separating the precipitated crystal of the anhydrous sugar alcohol from the solution.
