PURPOSE: To purify influenza virus in high purify in high yield, by subjecting an influenza virus-containing solution to a column chromatography packed with a specific adsorbent.
CONSTITUTION: A column is packed with an adsorbent of a cellulose sulfate obtained by sulfating crystalline cellulose or cellulose consisting of crystal region and amorphous region, or a crosslinked polysaccharide sulfate obtained by crosslinking a polysaccharide with a crosslinking agent (e.g., epichlorohydrin), followed by sulfating it, and a buffer solution (e.g., 0.01M phosphate buffer solution of salt) having 0.001W2.0 ionic strength is passed through the column so that it is equilibrated. An influenza virus-containing solution is passed through it, and the influenza virus is adsorbed on it. It is washed with the buffer solution used for the equilibration, and a buffer solution having higher ionic strength than the buffer solution is passed through the column, so that the influenza virus is eluted.
