Title:
METHOD FOR SEPARATING MIXED ION-EXCHANGE RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01127049
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To separate anion-exchange resin having a low pollution level and thereby reduce the volume of waste resins as radioactive wastes, by using sugar water having density of 1.03-1.20g/cm<3> as a separation liquid. CONSTITUTION:In a method wherein mixed ion-exchange resins 2 composed of cation-exchange resins 2a and anion-exchange resins 2b are stirred in separation liquids so that only anion-exchange resins 2b are caused to rise to the upper layer of the separation liquids where they are captured and separated, as a separation liquid sugar water 3 having density of 1.03-1.20g/cm<3> is used, whereby separation having extremely high accuracy of separation can be achieved. Consequently, treatment time is shortened, so that deterioration of regenerated resins can be avoided. And further, since anion-exchange resins 2b are separated and removed, the volume of radioactive wastes to dispose of is reduced to one third of its original volume, thereby facilitating the oxidizing, dissolving process, resulting in greatly reduced cost of waste disposal.
