Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a polymerized toner having satisfactory electrostatic charge characteristics and light resistance and excellent in fixability without inhibiting polymn. by using a specified anthraquinone dye as a colorant optionally in combination with a known pigment.
CONSTITUTION: When a polymerizable monomer system contg. a colorant is suspension-polymerized in an aq. medium to obtain a polymerized toner, an anthraquinone dye having a structure represented by the formula is used as the colorant. The dye is easily obtd. as usual by allowing 1-amino-2-halogeno-4- hydroxyanthraquinone as starting material to react with phenols or thiophenols in the presence of a base such as potassium carbonate. The dye may be used in combination with a generally known pigment, e.g. a quinacridone pigment such as C.I. Pigment Red 122, an azo pigment such as C.I. Pigment Red 57 or a rhodamine dye such as C.I. Solvent Red 49 as a lake pigment.
