Abstract:
To provide a method and system for service distribution using replication of a data path state and mapping of an intermediate device.SOLUTION: A network traffic flow is processed by a router, a switch or a service node. The service node is an ASIC capable of providing a function of a switch or a router, is configurable in a circular replication chain and implements a method for receiving a first packet with a destination address included in a destination address field. The first packet is routed to a selected service node located in a replication chain, which includes a plurality of service nodes configured for chain replication of service state information. A service node configured for NAT or another service uses the first packet to generate a conversion packet that can be transmitted to a destination indicated by the destination address.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
