Abstract:
To provide a method and system for service state replication using a source data packet.SOLUTION: A network traffic flow is processed by a router, a switch or a service node. The service node is an ASIC capable of providing a function of a switch or a router, is configured in a circular replication chain, and offers a benefit such as high availability. The method of implementation by the service node is to receive a first packet with a destination address included in a destination address field, to route the first packet to a selected service node located in a circular replication chain which has a local flow table and includes a plurality of service nodes configured for chain replication of the local flow table, to generate a second packet by processing the first packet with the use of a matching flow of the first packet, and to transmit the second packet to the destination address.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
