Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a millimeter wave radar device capable of surely discriminating a plurality of stationary objects such as a plurality of stopping vehicles and the like arranged in line at the same relative speed in front of its own vehicle from each other for precisely detecting the existence/absence of a forward stationary object on its own vehicle traveling lane.
SOLUTION: In a FSK monopulse radar measuring relative speed, distance and azimuth between driver's own vehicle and a forward stationary object, the position in the lateral direction of the forward stationary object is found from measurement data (the azimuth and the distance), and a fluctuation characteristic (pattern) related to the lateral position data is captured. On the basis of the fluctuation pattern, it is judged whether the forward stationary object is on the own vehicle traveling lane or not. If there are a plurality of forward stationary objects, these are discriminated from each other, and their belonging lanes are determined. If the stationary object is on the driver's own vehicle traveling lane and a distance to the object becomes a fixed distance or less, an alarm is given.
