To provide a phosphor, a phosphor paste composition and a VUV-excited light emitting element in which light-emitting efficiency in VUV excitation of 146 nm and 173 nm is higher than that of a conventional divalent metal silicate phosphor and the life is excellent compared with that of barium-magnesium aluminate phosphor.
The silicate phosphor is represented by formula (i): (Ca1-x-uEuxM1u)O-a(Mg1-vZnv)O-bSiO2-cLa2O3-wM2 (wherein M1 is Ba and/or Sr; M2 is one kind of element selected from Y, Ce, In and Bi; 0.9≤a≤1.1, 1.9≤b≤2.2, 0<c≤0.025, 0.002≤x≤0.1 and 0≤u+v+w≤0.4). The phosphor mixture comprises a aluminate phosphor represented by formula (ii): (M31-yEuy)O-d(M41-zMnz)O-eAl2O3 (wherein M3 is one or more kinds of elements selected from Ba, Sr and Ca; M4 is Mg and/or Zn; 0<d<2, 4.5<e<5.5, 0.01≤y≤0.5 and 0≤z<1).
