Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a mixture of bitumen and a polymer compsn. which has improved storage stability and ductility.
CONSTITUTION: This mixture comprises bitumen and a polymer compsn., characterized in that the polymer compsn. comprises: A) 10 to 40 pts.wt. isotactic propylene homopolymer having an isotactic index exceeding 80, or random copolymer of propylene with ethylene or a 4-10 α-olefin or a mixture of ethylene with the 4-10C α-olefin, the content of ethylene or the 4-10C α-olefin or a combination of ethylene with the 4-10C α-olefin being 1 to 10 wt.%, the isotactic index in boiling n-heptane being more than 80; B) 0 to 20 pts.wt. copolymer fraction contg. ethylene, which is insoluble in xylene at ambient temp.; and C) 50 to 80 pts.wt. copolymer of ethylene with propylene or a 4-10C α-olefin or a mixture of propylene with the 4-10C α-olefin and optionally a minor amt. of a diene, the copolymer being soluble in xylene at ambient temp. and having an intrinsic viscosity greater than 1.5 and up to 2.2 dl/g.
