An encoder of a MPEG codec 34 is used for a motion picture recording when a TV broadcasting is not received. A decoder of the MPEG codec 34 is used for a TV broadcasting reception. The encoder of a JPEG codec is used for the motion picture recording while the TV broadcasting is received. After the TV broadcasting reception finishes and also the motion picture recording by a JPEG finishes, JPEG data are expanded by the decoder of the JPEG codec 36, is compressed by the encoder of the MPEG codec 34, and is converted into MPEG data.
