Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to display an index picture and update the index picture even during reproducing an MPEG stream.
SOLUTION: Video data outputted from an NTSC encoder 14 is converted into a plurality of video PESs by an MPEG video encoder 20 and a packet generation circuit 22. A thinning circuit 16 applies thinning processing to the video data of a leading frame or an optional frame to generate the index picture data. A package generation circuit 18 makes the index picture data into a packet for generating packet data. The video PESs and the packet data of the index picture are multiplexed by a multiplexer 30 to generate the MPEG stream. Then, the packet data of the index picture is inserted into the MPEG stream as a private stream.
