Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a NOx generation amount estimating method for precisely estimating NOx amount generated by combustion of air-fuel mixture containing fuel and air in a combustion chamber by taking peripheral state quantities of the air-fuel mixture into account.
SOLUTION: In this method, four of concentration (intake oxygen concentration RO2c) of gas in sucked air which becomes a material for generating NOx, a load index value (fuel injection volume qfinc) for indicating degree of load given to the internal combustion engine, an atomization index value (fuel injection pressure Pcrc) for indicating degree of atomization of fuel in the combustion chamber, and the highest flame temperature Tflame are selected as the peripheral state quantities of the air-fuel mixture for greatly affecting NOx generation amount generated by combustion in a region (combustion region) occupied by the air-fuel mixture. RNOx_burn is obtained based on the four peripheral state quantities and a predetermined experimental formula for specifying the relation of the four peripheral state quantities and combustion generation NOx amount (combustion generation NOx rate RNOx_burn) per unit fuel amount to estimate a value obtained by multiplying RNOx_burn by fuel injection volume qfinc as NOx generation amount.
