Abstract:
PURPOSE: To expand the frequency range and temperature range of the oscillator by adjusting the bias of the oscillator according to the frequency of the oscillator and/or ambient temperature. CONSTITUTION: This oscillator is equipped with a circuit which adjusts the bias of the oscillator 12 according to the frequency of the oscillator 12 and/or ambient temperature without using technology that uses the same signal for both bias control and frequency control. Namely, a resonance circuit of the oscillator 12 is equipped with a frequency control element which varies the resonance frequency of the oscillator 12 according to a frequency control signal on a frequency control line 14. A frequency compensating circuit 16 is connected to a bias line 22 and equipped with a means which varies a bias signal applied to an active device according to variation of the frequency control signal. A temperature sensor/compensating circuit 18 is also connected to the bias line 22 and equipped with a means which varies a bias signal according to variation of the ambient temperature. Therefore, the frequency range and temperature range of the oscillator 12 can be both expanded.
