Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neutron absorber that has sufficient neutron absorption capacity, and can maintain effective neutron absorption capacity over a long period of time without the neutron absorption capacity being lost at the time of not only molten fuel extraction but also storage and preservation thereafter.SOLUTION: Boron or boron compound powders 21 are mixed with binder to make a spherical shape, and metal powders or ceramic powders 22 are mixed with binder to be deposited on the surface thereof. Then, sintering allows a neutron absorber 20 to be produced in which the powders 21 of boron or the like are sealed inside an outer shell formed by sintering the powders 22.
