Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve workability and to enable precise finish working by using a nonmagnetic substrate whose max. grain diameter has been regulated to a specified value or below by adding Nd2O3 and/or Gd2O3 as assistant components to Fe2O3.

CONSTITUTION: This nonmagnetic substrate, is based on Fe203 contains 0.1-5wt.% Nd2O3 and/or Gd2O3 as assistant components and has 5μm max. grain diameter. The Nd2O3 and Gd2O3 as additives have an effect of improving the sinterability of Fe2O3 and are effective in reducing the grain diameter. By the addition of 0.1-5wt.% Nd2O3 and/or Gd2O3, ≤5μm grain diameter is attained while maintaining such magnetic characteristics as ≤0.10e coercive force. The amt. of Nd2O3 and/or Gb2O3 added is preferably 0.5-3wt.%.
