Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain nonwoven fabric coated with pigment useful as the cover of a book, a map, an outdoor propaganda poster, a flag, a drop curtain, a label, a tag, other printed materials and prints, having toughness and high resistance to tear, excellent in printability.

CONSTITUTION: Nonwoven fabric produced by subjecting a polyolefin resin to flash spinning method is used as a substrate and at least one side of the nonwoven fabric is provided with a coated layer consisting essentially of pigment and an adhesive to give the objective nonwoven fabric coated with pigment having thickness variability, after passing the nonwoven fabric coated with pigment through a pressure nip composed of a metal roll and an elastic roll based on JIS P8,118, of 0.045-0.080mm as difference between the maximum and the minimum among 40 measured parts of thickness. The objective nonwoven fabric is excellent in all evaluations of surface unevenness, surface smoothness, water resistance, printing register and printing double.
