PURPOSE: To supply a lubricant uniformly to a mirror support sliding portion for a long time by bringing an applying member to be connected with an oil source into contact with the guide member for a scanning mirror support.
CONSTITUTION: The support 30 and 31 for a scanning mirror are moved back and forth along guide rails 32 and 33 fhrough bearings 37a, 37b, 38a and 38b. The lubricant in oil bathes 39 and 43, which are formed in the bottoms of the supports 30 and 31, is supplied by the suction due to the capillary into the rails 32 and 33 contacting with applying members 41 and 45 made of a fibrous material such as felt which is liable to be impregnated with oil so that the lubricant can be distributed unformly for a long time into the sliding portions of the supports 30 and 31. As a result, it is possible to accomplish the optical scanning operation of satisfactory quality for a long time by the smooth reciprocations of reduced wear
