Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical fiber ferrule assembly equipped with the angle index indicating the polarization plane direction of the optical fiber.
SOLUTION: This assembly has a polarization plane maintaining optical fiber, the optical fiber ferrule 1 which receives the optical fiber and holds and fixes it so that its tip end surface is exposed, and an angle index member 2 which has an angle index member 2; and the angle index member 2 itself rotates on the ferrule and is fixed at a constant angle position to the plane of polarization of the optical fiber. While the angle index member 2 and an optical fiber ferrule temporary assembly to which the optical fiber is fixed are coupled and one of them is fixed, the tip end surface of the optical fiber is magnified and observed to determine the polarization plane direction from the observed shape, and they are relatively rotated and mutually fixed so that the angle index indicates a constant angle to the polarization plane direction.
