Title:
OPTICAL MODULATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2017173385
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reflection of a common mode at a terminal resistance or at a driver output end, in an optical modulator connected to a differential output open-collector driver.SOLUTION: An optical modulator includes: a differential type open-collector driver; a Mach-Zehnder type light modulator with a pair of RF electrodes that is connected to the differential type open-collector driver; and a terminal resistance connected to the Mach-Zehnder type light modulator. The terminal resistance has: a pair of first resistances connected to the RF electrodes respectively; and a second resistance connected to the first resistance. The pair of first resistances and the second resistance are impedance-matched with the RF electrodes in both a common mode and a differential mode in the Mach-Zehnder type light modulator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
