Abstract:
PURPOSE: To secure highly stable reading performance with an optical reader by obtaining the OR of the output voltage of all columns for each row of the photoelectric transducers arrayed in a planar form and using the OR output to carry out the control of the light quantity.
CONSTITUTION: An image sensor 11 containing plural photoelectric converters arrayed into a planar form is used to read the information on characters, marks, etc. Then the OR of the output voltages of N lines is obtained through a diode. This OR is compared with a prescribed reference voltage level by a comparator 12. Thus a binary-coded signal is obtained for control of transistors 13 and 14. Then the forward current of an LED light source 15 is controlled.
