To provide an optical scanner suppressing reflection of a luminous flux in a boundary with air and substantially fully absorbing unnecessary light, and also to provide an image reader and an image forming apparatus each equipped with this scanner.
The optical scanner 1 is equipped with: housings 10-12 which support at least a part of the optical scanner; and an antireflection structure which is installed at least in a part of the housings 10-12 and which has structure units having a prescribed shape and periodically arrayed with a pitch smaller than the shortest wavelength of a laser luminous flux. At least either the antireflection structure itself or a part of the housings installed with this structure is composed of a material that absorbs a laser luminous flux. With this material, the laser luminous flux is absorbed whose reflection is suppressed in the antireflection structure.
