Abstract:
To provide a method for reducing a carbonyl compound.
This method for reducing the carbonyl compound comprises reducing the carbonyl compound in the presence of an organometallic complex expressed by formula (1) (R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 are each H or a lower alkyl; M is an 8 or 9 group element in the periodic table; X1 and X2 are each a nitrogen-containing ligand, provided that X1 and X2 may be bonded to each other; X3 is H, a carboxylic acid residue or H2O; Y is an anionic species; k is a valence of the cationic species; L is a valence of the anionic species; and k and L are each 1 or 2, provided that k, L, m, and n satisfy the following equation: k×m=L×n) and formic acid or its salt.
