To enable the stationary operation of a trough, and to smoothly carry articles in an oscillating conveyor for supporting a straight trough freely to be oscillated and for oscillating the trough with an oscillation source by gradually increasing the driving command to be given to the oscillation source from zero to the predetermined value.

When the alternating current having a phase difference deviated at 120 degree is flowed to three coils of a liner motor 26, the magnetic attracting force is alternately generated in order of electrodes U, V, W so as to move a primary side member 28 left. At this stage, since the primary side member 28 is slid on a secondary side member 27 through a wheel 18a, a horizontal part of the secondary side member 27 receives the reaction force of the primary side member 28 so as to accelerate the trough 7 left. In this case, a driving command is controlled so as to increase the level thereof nearly linear from the initial time t0 of the drive to the predetermined time t1. With this structure, applying of the resonant vibration by a carrier for the trough 7 is prevented, and articles can be stably carried after the time t1.
