Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable the measuring of an outer diameter of a fuel rod located on the outer circumference thereof without necessitating the dismanthement of a fuel bundle by reflecting a laser light emitted from a measuring device to a laser light receiving section. CONSTITUTION:First, a laser light reflecting device to be driven by a driving section is inserted into a gap between a first row of fuel rods 3a located on the outer circumference of a fuel bundle 4 and a second row of fuel rods 3b located thereinside. Then, with the driving of a measuring section driver 7, a measuring device comprising a laser light emitting section 6a and a laser light receiving section 6b are arranged in front of a fuel rod 3c to the measured of the first row of fuel rods. Then, a laser light emitted to the fuel rod 3c from the laser light emitting section 6a of the measuring device passes through the fuel rod 3c and reaches a laser reflecting device arranged behind the fuel rod 3c. The laser light reflected by the laser light reflecting device is introduced into the laser light receiving section 6b. Time during which the laser light introduced into the light receiving section 6b is shielded by the fuel rod 3c is measured thereby enabling measurement of an outer diameter of the fuel rod 3c.
