PURPOSE: To provide an overhead projector(OHP) projecting the image of an original on an original platen on a screen, capable of picking up the image of a non-transmissive original or a solid body on the original platen, and outputting a picked-up image as a video signal.

CONSTITUTION: In this OHP, the original on the original platen 1 is illuminated from above by an illumination lamp 7, and the image of the original is projected on the screen by using a projection lens 3 and a mirror 5, thereby, the image of the general non-transmissive original or the solid body can be projected. It has such a structure that the projection lens 3 is put between a small-sized television camera head 13 in which an image pickup optical system and an image pickup element are incorporated and the illumination lamp 7, and the camera head 13 is arranged so as to pick up the image of the original on the original platen 1 in a state where it approaches the projection lens 3 as closely as possrble. A camera control unit part (CCU part is arranged at the inside cavity part of the housing (leg part) 15 of the OHP.
