Abstract:
PURPOSE: To completely stop a loop spreading device at the time of performing a hemstitch.
CONSTITUTION: This overlocking machine has a lower looper shaft 20 interlocked with a machine main shaft so as to be capable of a longitudinal and transverse oscillation motion, while prevented from giving the longitudinal oscillation motion in hemstitch mode, and a loop spreading hook 16 for holding needle thread so that a needle is located within a triangle formed with lower loop thread, a lower looper and needle thread due to the longitudinal and transverse oscillation motion. Also, the machine is equipped with longitudinal oscillation transmission means 26 and 31 to transmit the longitudinal oscillation motion of the lower looper shaft 20 to the loop spreading hook 16, transverse oscillation motion transmission means 28 and 33 having the capability of transmitting the transverse oscillation motion of the lower looper shaft 20 to the loop spreading hook 16, and a selector means to cause the loop spreading hook 16 to oscillate transversely and longitudinally in double hemstitch mode, and to stop the transmission to the hook 16 via the means 28 in the hemstitch mode.
