To provide an oxide thermoelectric material being a cobalt oxide containing no active alkali metal as its main component, stable to a high temperature range of about 1,000°C, low in degradation with year, keeping a low resistivity, and having a higher Seebeck coefficient than those of conventional ones.
This oxide thermoelectric material is an oxide having a complex crystal structure represented by the formula: [A2M2O4+δ]p[CoO2] wherein A is at least an element selected from the group consisting of an alkaline earth metal, an alkali metal, and a rare earth, M comprises transition metals represented by the formula: (QxRy) wherein x and y are 0.6≤x≤0.7, 0.4≤y≤0.3, respectively, and the structural part [A2M2O4+δ] and the structural part [CoO2] in the complex crystal structure have axis a and axis c of a monoclinic system in common, and when the lengths of axis b which has different arrangement cycles are taken b1 and b2, a relation p=b1/b2 is satisfied.
