To provide a technology for processing a single gene into a uniform, fine nanoparticle and coating the same with a lipid membrane as a gene transfer technology that supports gene therapy or innovative therapies in regenerative medicine.
A lipid structure has a single-gene nanoparticle condensed by a monocationic detergent (MCD). The lipid structure has very small particle size and is therefore expected to facilitate efficient gene expression by a strategy of penetrating through a nuclear pore of a non-dividing cell. Extremely small size of the particle is also advantageous at use in vivo. The lipid structure has a uniform particle size and thus enables high-quality formulation. The nanoparticle formed from the MCD has high gene-release efficiency to enable efficient release of the gene in the nucleus and drastically improves gene expression.
