The parameter operation device includes: a shift detection means for detecting the start of shift to an energy saving mode of the image forming apparatus connected through a network; a parameter information acquisition means for acquiring parameter information of the image forming apparatus from the image forming apparatus according to detection of the shift start and recording the parameter information in a storage means; and a parameter information output means for outputting parameter information recorded in the storage means according to the input of a reference request of the parameter information.
