To provide parts of an image forming device having good sliding property and excellent wear resistance by forming a carbon film having wear resistance and lubricating property on the contact face of the parts with other products.
Carbon film-coated parts for an image forming device are obtd. by almost uniformly forming a carbon film F on the contact face (outer surface) S1 of the base body S with other products. In this case, the base body S is a roller which is composed of a rubber layer C with a shaft L inserted. The film forming surface of the base body S is exposed to at least one kind of gas plasma selected from fluorine-contg. gas, hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. The carbon film is formed by plasma CVD method. The carbon film is a DLC film. The film forming surface of the base body consists of an org. material. By this method, the base material of the parts for an image forming device can be produced from a wide range of selections.
