To reduce the cost of a permanent magnet motor and to increase its efficiency.
This is a three-phase four-pole permanent magnet motor composed by arranging a rotor 11 which has a coil 10b wound in each tooth 10a of a six-slot construction by concentrated winding inside a stator 10, and generates rotating magnetic fields. In this rotor 11, a first permanent magnet to a third permanent magnet 12, 13, 14 are buried to form poles along both oblique sides and the upper side of a trapezoid, and these first to third magnets 12, 13, 14 are buried with equal intervals by a number necessary for four poles in the circumferential direction to form a field system. The first and second magnets 12, 13 has rectangular sections, and are arranged with their long sides parallel to the q-axis. The third magnet 14 has a rectangular section, and is arranged with its short side towards the shaft 3 side end parts of the first and second magnets 12, 13. The first and second magnets 12, 13 of ferrite and the third magnet 14 a rare earth magnet are magnetized in the directions rectangular to the long sides of the rectangular sections, to make adjoining magnetic polarities different from each other.
