To stably keep sodium {[3-(2-amino-1,2-dioxoethyl)-2-ethyl-1-(phenylmethyl)-1H-indol-4-yl]oxy}acetate (referred to as a compound (I)) in an aqueous carrier, and to provide a high-quality, excellent lyophilized formulation containing the compound (I), keeping homogeneous phase, good in reproduction, and causing no disintegration thereof during storage.

The lyophilized pharmaceutical formulation comprises the compound (I), a dissolution agent and a stabilizer. Such a formulation is stable during storage, being readily soluble in an aqueous medium to provide a solution injectible in treating e.g. septicemia.
