Abstract:
To provide a pharmaceutical composition having a form suitable for pernasal delivery of insulin in which permeability of insulin is improved.
The pharmaceutical composition comprises a macrocyclic permeation enhancer, a liquid carrier including water, an emulsifier and a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutically active agent other than insulin selected from the group consisting of peptides, peptide mimetics, and proteins. The pharmaceutical composition further comprises a crystallization inhibitor for the macrocyclic permeation enhancer selected from the group consisting of vitamin E acetate, hexadecane, octyl palmitate, sesame oil, soybean oil, safflower oil, avocado oil, palm oil, and cottonseed oil.
