To contrive combination of photographic sensitivity, graininess and sharpness in high levels even when the amt. of silver which contributes to form an image (image-forming silver) is small in a photographic element by specifying the constitution of the image-forming silver included in the while image-forming layers.
In the image-forming layers, extra-thin planer particles having <0.07μm thickness are included by ≥25wt.% of the whole amt. of the image- forming silver in the whole element. Planar particles having ≥0.10μm thickness and nonplanare particles having the ECD between ≥0.15μm and <0.70μm are included by <50wt.% of the whole amt. of the image-forming silver. Further, planar particles having the thickness between ≥0.07μm and <0.10μm are included by ≤50wt.% of the whole amt. of the image-forming silver in the whole element. The photographic element having the property described above shows performances with combination of photographic sensitivity, graininess and sharpness at high levels even when the amt. of the image-forming silver in the element is small.
