PURPOSE: To improve the maintainability of a picture forming device and reduce a space necessary for its installation by mounting at least a part of the bottom side of a sorter on a device main body, and making the sorter rotatable in its separating direction from the upper surface of the device main body.

CONSTITUTION: A sorter 30 is supported rotatably round a supporting point C on the fixing member 70 which is formed of an engaging protrusion 73 engaged in the engaging hole 28 of a device main body A, and is partially mounted on the device main body A. When toner is exchanged because the residual toner in a developing apparatus 3 becomes less than a fixed quantity, the sorter 30 is lifted using a handle 36 to rotate round the supporting point C, and thereby a pin 32a on the wall surface of a sorter casing 32 moves along the slot 75 of a lock control plate 74 to make the said plate 74 rise until the pin 32a engages with a locking groove 75a and then lock the said plate 74. A cover 21 opened in such a situation makes it possible to easily throw the toner into the said device 3. Therefore the maintenance of the said deice becomes easier, and a space necessary for its installation can be reduced.
