Title:
PICTURE PROCESSING DEVICE FOR BLIND PERSON
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6452187
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To recognize a picture or a character on a television and the shape of an object with the aid of speech or the sense of touch by providing an eyeball type picture input part, a three-dimensional touch-observation picture display part and a character output part.

CONSTITUTION: This device is used when a person having no eyesight wants to know the picture or the character on the television or in external environment, and is constituted of the eyeball type picture input part 1, the three-dimensional type touch- observation picture display part 2 and the character output part 3. The picture input part 1 forms a camera in the same way as the eyeball, and is constituted by double arrangement like the retina of a human being by putting a laterally elongated rectangular CCD area sensor in the center and photosensors on the periphery of the area sensor at a pitch rougher than the area sensor. The display part 2 calculates the distance of the object from a signal inputted from the camera of the input part 1 and inputs voltage in proportion to the distance in a braille projected solenoid coil. Furthermore, after detecting the edge of a book, the end of a line and a line by the CCD camera of the input part 1, the output part 3 inputs the character to execute necessary processing by the central area sensor, so that speech output or the actuation of a braille printer are performed.
