The piezoelectric oscillator is equipped with a package 37 formed by stacking a plurality of substrates 37a to 37d, the piezoelectric vibrating piece 32 fixed to the package, and an oscillation circuit element 50 for constituting an oscillation circuit. The plurality of substrates and the piezoelectric vibrating piece are formed of materials which have nearly matching coefficients of thermal expansion, and the piezoelectric vibrating piece 32 has a vibrating piece body 39 provided with an exciting electrode, and a frame part 36, which is formed integrally with the vibrating piece main body and surrounds the vibrating piece body in a frame shape; and the frame part 36 has a conduction pattern, formed by extending the exciting electrode around and the vibrating piece body is stored in the package and jointed, while being sandwiched between a plurality of substrates.
